Internet has become a mandatory requirements for all people, anywhere and anytime we can accessing, where the Internet is widely used to seek knowledges, applications or games, and even for business. Because Internet access is very broad and open to anyone, this is also a weak point.
On the internet are already familiar with the names of porn sites, sara, gambling, and so forth. For that, you need to protect yourself or your family from things that are negative smells like that. After previously discussing about how to blocking some websites via web browsers, perhaps this way tend to be less practical, cause each person must using the various browser brands.
Now we’ll try to blocking some websites from windows systems. Go to Run menu by click the Start button and select Run or the simply ways is press Windows + R. The write the following text in the Run box : notepad c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
. You’ll see a new notepad window on your screen containing some cryptic information (just like the text blockquote below).
# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
You can enter the some website url addresses that you want to block into your PC after row of unique numbers – localhost at the following last line of the file (the blue color). For example 127.0.0.1 facebook.com
, repeat write again if you wanna to add another sites including unique number at the under line. You may need to add sites with both or without "http://"
or "www"
. Test after blocking to make sure you got it right.
Save the file and exit notepad, answer “Yes” when prompted. Reboot your PC and attempt to access your new blocked websites. If your browser cannot find server or DNS Error says “The page cannot be displayed”, now at your PC, the list of sites that you wrote on Notepad will not open again on your PC.
